Oct 13 - coyote on the mudflats
As autumn deepens, my walk home is coinciding with sunset.
I had a little post about gulls published on Jerry Coyne’s blog today: Reader’s Wildlife Photos

Listening
Little did I expect one of my favourite albums this fall would be a soaring and engulfing work of spiritual jazz entitled People of the Fast Flowing River by Work Money Death
Bands from the incredible Melbourne instrumental funk scene like Surprise Chef, Karate Boogaloo, and Let Down Your Hair are all in high digital rotation.
I’ve also been listening to Sylvain Rifflet’s We Want Stars. I’m still not entirely sure what to make of it – the music is a little sweet for my taste, but there are a few standout compositions. (is that Nicolas Cage on drums?!)

Common Eastern Bumble Bee (Bombus impatiens)
I’ve been watching a small hive of these bees on my lunch break. Bombus impatiens, the Common Eastern Bumble Bee, is an invasive species here in Vancouver.

Train yard
Years ago I used to spend quite a bit of time skulking around train yards, photographing graffiti. I still enjoy the vibe and engaging in a some light trespassing.
