October sunrise

A week late and so it goes.

Reading

I recently finished reading Intraterrestrials by Karen G. Lloyd, and if you’re at all interested in biology and the utterly confounding fact of abiogenesis, you better borrow, buy, or steal a copy of this book. Spoiler: unsurprisingly, we’re constantly surprised by life.

Listening

Bad Weed by Junior Murvin has been echoing in my head for at least two weeks now…

The Spark of Life is a Radiolab episode I’m still attempting to make sense of. I won’t give away anything, but I cannot believe I have never heard anything about the topic covered.

Watching

Peter Sellers – a bit before my time, I knew him only as Inspector Clouseau from the Pink Panther movies. But I’ve since seen some of the other films he was in – Dr. Strangelove, and the incredible Being There (also find, borrow, or steal this film).

Here’s an unassumingly hilarious clip featuring Ringo Starr of all people.

Mid to late October is the time to find flushes of Amanite muscaria around the city.

Slugs are happy to eat these, but I wouldn’t recommend you try them.
